Amazonite is a trade name for Microcline, a potassium-rich member of the feldspar mineral group. Microcline has the same chemical composition as Orthoclase, but it grows as triclinic crystals opposed to the monoclinic Orthoclase. Its green colour is thought to be caused by trace amounts of lead. It has a hardness 6-6.5 on the Mohs scale.
