Sodalite is actually the name of a group of minerals with a similar isometric structure and related chemistry. Its most common member is named Sodalite. The Sodalite group is a member of the feldspathoid minerals. Sodalite can be confused with Lapis Lazuli because there is actually Sodalite in Lapis! It has a hardness of 5.5-6 on the Mohs scale.
