Most Lapis Lazuli is a combination of 7 or so minerals and is technically a rock. Its main component is Lazurite and it also contains easily recognizable Calcite, Sodalite and Pyrite.

Mined for over 6000 years in present-day Afghanistan, Lapis has been revered by ancient cultures such as those of Ur, Egypt and South America. While researching and meditating with Lapis for this article, prominent in my awareness is its worship by the ancient Egyptians and how Lapis helps us access ancient sacred mysteries (I believe from our own inner-wisdom) and enhances our ability to understand the information we receive. I recommend exploring Lapis Lazuli for anyone whose soul resonates with ancient Egypt. Sacred to the Goddess Isis, Lapis was prized for holding the energy of a star-speckled sky, limitless in its wisdom. It strengthens the empowerment of inner knowledge.

Wear or carry Lapis Lazuli to enhance intuition, strengthen psychic abilities and protection, support initiation, promote honesty and clear self-expression, openness and virility. this stone powerfully activates the throat and brow chakras.

In the ancient Egyptian Papyrus of Ani/Book of The Dead, Lapis is noted with rituals associated with the heart. Our energy centers depend on and interact with each other. Our hearts are empowered by our ability to speak our truth. We must 'discover our work' and with all of our hearts give ourselves to it. It aids one in 'knowing that you know' with the confidence and interconnectedness of the higher bodies with the physical body. It is also a great tool for exploring the interconnectedness of the physical plane and the celestial kingdom.

Used during meditation, Lapis Lazuli quickly releases stress and greatly helps us to attain a deeper and more open state of consciousness. In this deep state of tranquility, Lapis can help us find relief from that which we have stored in the recesses of the mind by providing objectivity, clarity and endurance during the release of information. Clearing the mind of elements of the past which are no longer needed helps to free us up to explore our creativity here and now. Lapis is known as "the stone of total awareness" and in this way can be of benefit in dream work, in establishing a connection with dream forces working to guide us during altered states.

Lapis Lazuli is said to boost the immune system, lower blood pressure, alleviate insomnia and vertigo and help to overcome depression. It benefits the nervous system and the throat, the thyroid, larynx and even the vocal chords.

Remember that effects on the physical body care often subtle, and crystals should never be used as replacements for proper medical attention. When utilizing crystals for healing, think of them as frequency tools to support mind, body, and spirit,
